9" Kiln Post
Kilncor kiln posts are made from durable refractory ceramic and engineered to provide stable, dependable support for kiln shelves during firing. Available in heights from 0.5" through 12", the collection makes it easy to build the shelf spacing you need for everything from low-profile pieces to taller ceramic work.
Each post is sintered at 1450°C during manufacturing, preparing the refractory material for demanding kiln environments. Kilncor posts are engineered to deliver consistent performance through repeated firing cycles at temperatures below 1300°C.
Built to Get Better With Firing
Kilncor kiln posts undergo a natural seasoning process during their first firings. As the posts are exposed to kiln temperatures, the ceramic body will visibly darken and continue to strengthen.
A darker post after firing is normal.
The change in appearance is a result of the post becoming seasoned through use and does not indicate damage or deterioration. Instead, the firing process further conditions the refractory ceramic material for continued kiln use.

What Does “Seasoned” Mean?
New Kilncor posts may look different after their first firing. This is expected.
During firing, the refractory ceramic material continues to condition within the kiln environment.
As the posts become seasoned:
- The ceramic body may become noticeably darker
- The posts become stronger through the seasoning process
- The color change does not affect normal performance
- This natural change is part of preparing the kiln post for continued use
Built for Working Kilns
Kiln furniture is asked to perform firing after firing, often while supporting substantial shelf and ware loads at elevated temperatures. Kilncor posts are manufactured with that reality in mind.
Whether you're loading an electric kiln in a community studio, managing multiple kilns in a production environment, teaching ceramics in a school program, or firing from your own studio, Kilncor kiln posts provide the straightforward, dependable shelf support your kiln setup requires.
